The Forktail Rainbowfish is a small, colorful freshwater species native to fast-flowing streams in Papua New Guinea. This eye-catching fish is named for its distinctive forked tail and bright yellow fins with black edging. Its slender body shimmers with silvery-blue hues, especially under good lighting.
Peaceful and active, Forktail Rainbowfish do best in planted aquariums with open swimming space and gentle water flow. They are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of six or more to reduce stress and encourage vibrant coloration and natural behavior.
